Recently we announced the acquisition of Georgia based Universal Stair Parts, Inc. a company specializing in custom manufacturing and distribution of stair parts. “L.J. Smith will benefit the entire group,” said former co-owner Tom Hopson, “and will help Universal continue its growth as a full-service stair parts supplier. We feel that this acquisition is beneficial to all of our employees because it allows the scale, capacity and resources of L.J. Smith to enhance their personal achievement.” Former co-owner Jeff Moyer added, “L.J. Smith has promised to maintain current operations while investing new dollars in updating equipment, and upgrading computers to allow us to serve the customer more efficiently.”
Although the ownership will change, the name will remain the same and therefore will continue to provide to the market under Universal Stair Parts. “The joining of forces will give us a strong manufacturing and distribution foothold in the Southeast and therefore bring added capabilities which will further strengthen our commitment to serve our customers,” said Craig Kurtz President of L.J. Smith.
